All mods and drivers being equal, I'd say the Fox Mustang simply because it's lighter. If it were 3rd gen vs SN95 5.0 Mustang, I think the 3rd gen would win.

Kinda hard to argue this......

That question is way to broad to answer in my opinion. Are you asking just in general, or you vs. a buddies car? If you told us what kind of cam, what the specs of the heads are, what intake, what gears, tires, from a stop or roll, we could give you a good answer. Right now all we can really tell you is which is a better platform for modding really.

Whoever went across the finish line first..
There's NO substitute for cubic inches............
Alot does depend on how each car is set up tho, if you know how to set up well, you can get the most out of your car while the other guy go 1/2 @$$...
I've seen modified cars run slower than stock ones..

up to the 1/8th the TPI will kill the fox, because of the masses of torque the TPI spits out. After that the big bore small stroke will alllow the 302 a taller RPM band, and they have less restrictiv intakes up top so the fox will take it.

But thats only in straight line, go around a few corners, and the fox doesnt even have a chance against a stock 305 lol

1994-1995 Mustang...Newer curvy body style, but still with the tried and true 5.0...

It's a tossup without more information, especially since all cars react differently to mods, especially generic ones that we have no idea what they will do. More info please...Or just run em for fun...

I'd say you, but they say you gotta watch out for 5.0s sometimes.

The EEC-IV computer is a much better setup (condusive towards mods) than the GM setup from the same period. Given traction and a 5spd, I would say that the Mustang is going to have the edge. With people like Bob Cosby getting into the 12's without touching the stock longblock and people going well into the 11's with HCI and boltons, stang wins IMO.

The 5.0 Mustang was never known for top end power. They were great low end cars. Hard to find a stock 5.0 anymore but go to the track and watch them run. They ET with no mph. That's the way it was back then also. The IROC would almost match the ET but always a couple mph faster because of more power output. The F-Body would, in most cases, have to run down the Mustang.

Corners, stopping...nobody bought a Mustang in the '80s for those. It was strictly a straight line thing. Cheap and fast, that's why they sold so many.

I know this isn't a 5.0 but I ran my 87' 305 IROC auto w/shift kit against a friends 97' 4.9 Cobra standard stock and off the line though 2nd, I was kicking butt, but when we hit about 3rd she ran right on by. But that was in a straght line, if we had to take any corners I would have whiped her up.
