Who has a electric exhaust cut out or dump.
How hard was it to install on a third gen. What did it cost? Were did you install it ? Was it right off the y pipe or by the cornor were the converter was? How well do they work? Do they seal good and not leak ?
I want to install one so I don't have to uncap my headers at the track. I don't want to install one if I have to go around with a exhaust leak because they don't seal. Who has one and how do you like it?

I got mine used for free, I had to remake the butterfly valve and eventually swapped out the motor for a manual linkage using a choke cable.
The electric worked ok, but you never knew if it was totally open or not. the electric was slow moving also. with it manual, it just slid it open and I know it's fully open.
My cutout leaks-you can't hear it, but you can feel it if you put you hand behind it.
the electric ones are $120 i think

Chris,
Mines right in the back by the muffler where the bend is into the muffler. I had Dougs Muffler make it and it works really well. He gave me a re-useable gasket the never leaks. I'll have to bring it by after I get the trans in it so you can give a look.

That would be great Mike. I didn't think about putting it in the back. I was thinking it would be best to put it as close to the headers as poss.
Did you get the trans from Jeff? I am polishing a supercharger for Marks WS6. When I am done I have to pull the headliner out of the IROC and refinish it. I think I am going to put some flames on the backing to make then show on the material. Then when it get a little warmer I am going to install the NOS kit. I want to have her ready for spring. I have been thinking about selling both cars and getting a C5. I go thru this every winter because I am not driving them. I think once I do a high 11.8 run I will get over it.

Yeah I got the trans from Jeff, and I should have it in as soon as I can get Jeff to do me a favor and tow it to Gary's shop with his new car trailer
I still have heads/cam sitting on the shelf waiting for install, but I need to save up a little and buy the Scoggin-Dickey TPI Vortec intake to work with the heads. I was considering a ramjet intake, but just won't have the money for that any time soon.
Speaking of cams... do you have anything laying around that would work better than my ZZ3 cam with Vortec heads and TPI? Maybe I could sell mine and get one of yours if its better suited.... I'm not sure what stall speed the converter is I bought from Jeff until I put it in. I know for sure my old one is still good (2500rpm) but i don't want to use it unless I can get it flushed before hand. Jeff said this one is a higher stall speed than stock, but he wasn't positive about the stall rpm.
I got your number, Chris... I'll come and hang out with you one day when the cars running and the roads are nice enough to drive on. I can also get you hooked up with the cutout..

Open y pipe is a must with the nitrous. My plan was a manual 3" version right after the Y-pipe before my Flowmaster. I'm keeping this shorty setup for a while so electric would be damn cool. Talk to me Mike.

the cutouts on thirdgens sound like complete junk right after the y pipe. i'd agree on putting it further back but u wont get the full effect you're looking for flow wise.
good 3-3.5" mandrel bent exhaust will do more than cutout.

Mines just got a cap with a couple of bolts,,, no biggie to uncap. In fact, i think you may have seen it at the gathering on Woodward, Denny???
Mike I have a Compucam in the garage. It is like 465 lift. I remember they recomended a loose converter and 373 gears. I also have the chip I was using with it. I had the Dart 11 Sportsman heads and they are not recomended for TPI motors so I changed out everything. I don't remember but I don't think they had many miles on them.

B. It sounds great at idle also if the car isn't totally stock engine-wise.
Sound clips below of my stock motor'd 305 with open Y-pipe. 305 Track Run
I like it
Anyone else?Mike! Now that I think about it, yes I seen your cutout but I don't recall how it was setup towards the rear.
