Yes you would have to get the resistor pellet replaced to match the value of the one you are putting in. There are some Macgyver like remedys around it, but I like to have the security. The main Macgyver trick is to pull out the ignition cylinder and rewire under your dash to a place you can reach it. The insert your key into and either A- Leave it in to bypass vats or B- remove it and insert it constantly. Oh yeah...you would go back with a regular ignition cylinder. Awright...I am going on and on here...What is the problem you are having anyhoot....

The problem I am having is I can't get the security light off. I pulled apart the connector that runs up to the locking cylinder to measure the resistance with the key in and I got no value, so I pulled the key out and measured the pellet and got what the value was supposed to be. I then made a resistor that matched the value of the key and plugged it in to the steering column and that didn't help.

I know the wires are good because when I ohm out the other side of the the connector and get a resistance from running through the VATS module. I also pulled down what I think is the VATS module (black box next to the computer in the passangers side dash) and there is a crack in the casing. (Is that the VATS module??)

I know its not the starter because I can jump the starter relay and get the car to turn over. I can also jumper the fuel pump relay to turn it on but with the VATS problem I can't get the injectors to fire.
