Where to mount a tachometer ??

I had my tachometer mounted on the top of my dash with velcro, but it just got in the way and my firends told me that i was gonna end up getting a ticket for obstruction of view. And i don't need anymore tickets.
so i am trying to find a new place to mount it without drilling holes in the dash.
i want to mount it near the side of the radio without drilling holes.

Why dont you just put it next to the A-Pillar?

outside on the hood is always fun

or get a used dashpad and cut a hole in it?

does that make my fuzzy dice an obstruction of view?

Please don't tell me you've got fuzzy dice on your mirror...

Is it a 5" Tach? I'd try putting it right in the corner of the A-pillar and dash. To the left, shouldn't really get in the way.

c1989rs: Welcome to the board man! I see you're from Quakertown, I grew up near there! I still visit periodically, do you have any pics of your car? Are there any F-Body gatherings and stuff there over the summer? I'm usually there from late June to late July.

yes it is a 5 inch sun pro tach. any pics of where i should put it would be great, i think the spot everyone is talking about by the A pilliar is right where i want to put it. What i really need to know is a good way to mount it without cutting or drilling holes.

c1989rs.... what did you use to mount yours up? if you had pics that would be cool.
does anyone know of any really strong velcro or doublesided tape or something like that? Its just that my whole dashboard on my car is mint so I don't want to start hacking into it.
thanks

I don't understand please explain why you would put your tach/lite over there? I mean, it's lower, and even more outta view than the stock one. Can anyone explain it for me?

Clamp it to your roll bar.

Just joking.

Mount it below your two center AC vents (right above the HVAC controls/Radio) Just pop out you two vents and you can get your hand in there to put nuts onto bolts to hold it in place. I don't have one there yet but that is where several of my friends mount theirs and that seems like the best place with, and you cant see the damage inflicted to interior panels. I also have a few friends that have mounted theirs on the dash to the left and it looks tacky and out of place.

Because when you are racing you don't need to watch the Tach, that is why you have the shift light (and playback and memory features).

thanks
I made a bracket to hold the tach without making holes in the dash. I hooked the bracket under one of the vents about the heater controls. Works perfect, its very study, sticks out in your face, and doesn't get in the way.
thanks again everyone!
