Wheel backspacing

I have an 87 Iroc-Z..can anyone tell me what the backspacing is on the wheels?? I am looking at buying draglites for on it. Just wanna make sure I get the correct backspacing with the deepest dish available.
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Wheel backspacing

I believe it's 4.35. The most you can go on backspacing is 5 in the front and 5.85 in the rear. It'll probably be a tight fit if you go that far though. More if you buy adapters.

Re: Wheel backspacing

So with a 4th gen rear I could go up to 7.85" of backspacing in the rear? Two inches wider on each side!...

Re: Wheel backspacing

I just hope you don't bottom out the suspension and end up tearing up your tires/ fenders

What are you running now? What size is your rear tire? You have a 4th gen rear right? I was hoping to fit some 315's or wider but I need a 10.5 or 11 inch rim.. What backspacing are you running now?

Re: Wheel backspacing

nope...stock rear dimensions with a 10" and 6.75. with a 3 1/4" lip wouldn't go wider. i run 295's and that's plenty wide enough.

Re: Wheel backspacing

I ran a 305/50r15 tire on a 15x10 wheel with 5" backspacing (drum rear) for awhile. It tucked into the wheelwell lip OK, but the tire was too tall. I would not recommend it. A switch to a 275/50r15 put me right back at 26", and only .5" narrower. I ran that size for years with no rubbing issues at all, even with 3 passengers. Handled MUCH better too!

Re: Wheel backspacing

also, remember the larger dish you have the more ******d rotating mass so you will slow your car down.
