what's the best HP combo for a 350

I decided to do away with my 86's 305, and upgrade to a 350. What is the best combo for HP. Should I stroke it, leave it efi or go carb, Turbo or nitrous? Help!!!

Well, what are Your goals for the car? Do you want an all out race-only speed demon? Is this car a daily driver where driveability and fuel economy are of importance? Tell us exactly what You want from the car and what You plans are for Your 86 Z28! Your expectations will help us provide You with the best answers.

Not an all out race car but not my daily driver either. Something I can take out and not get blown away by another gt or cobra, I hate mustangs, also something that will leave those annoying litte ricer cars shaking in the dust!

If I had to do it all over again I'd go carb. for sure. As a matter of fact I think I'm going to convert my TPI to a dual carb. set up soon. I have a post explaining it.

If I had your car I would get this:

1)$2689 330HP / 350HO GM Performance Parts Base Crate Engine (FREE SHIPPING TIL JULY 31) http://www.sdparts.com/product/12486...ateEngine.aspx
2)$179.95 SB Chevrolet Vortec Performer RPM Intake Manifold http://www.sdparts.com/product/E7116...eManifold.aspx
3)$299.99 750 CFM Electric Choke Carburetor http://www.sdparts.com/product/E1411...arburetor.aspx

It's a 330hp to 350 so you would have as much hp as an SS atleast and way more torque. This combo produces 380lb/ft.

Or for $1200 more you could get the ZZ4
http://www.sdparts.com/product/24502...ateEngine.aspx

I pretty much have this engine but with a TPI intake and a Hot cam kit.

Good luck!

The key to how much horsepower you will make is the heads. Buy the best set of heads you can afford and then the supporting mods.

A great engine builder told me evey motor starts with the heads. You should get the best ones possible and go from there.

So I was looking at summit racing and found some pro flow heads that might do the trick, would these be better than an edelbrock set? Also my 350 isn't a crate engine it's out of a 92 camaro that was in my local junk yard

There are tons of horsepower combos out there. If your car is EFI, then leave it EFI. Just watch out for those crate engines. They are rated for carbs and racing, and the power advertised is on an engine dyno, not what it would be in your car. That 330 HP crate engine might be about 260-275 HP once its in your car.

The best set of heads out there right now is the AFR Eliminator 195's, followed by the Trick Flow 195's.
