What year did third gens switch to R-134a?

Don't,DO NOT,use that stuff that replaces r-12, it has propane in it. If you have a leak under ihe hood an a bad spark wire you could have an explosion! If your system is low on r-12 either add more r-12 ,or convert to 134,but your asking for trouble using that other stuff.

This is NOT Freon, it is freon OIL. This is fine to use if you need a little charge,however this is not that freon replacement stuff they sell which has propane in it. Freon oil is differant from the oil they use with 134,which is Ester oil. They are not compatible,so if you have 134 don't try to use this stuff,or vise-versa. The artical that Rippin92RS posted is a good artical I was looking for it myself,I used it when I converted my OLDS to 134.
