i am going to be dropping a t56 in my car which t56 can i drop in my car 94-97 lt1 tranny , 98-2002 ls1 tranny, or could i go as far as to drop a viper tranny in there. thanks.
When you get the hydraulics, get the "U" shaped bolt that holds the master cylinder in.
Also, get the "arms" that hang from the pivot bolt on the pedal assembly (they run from the pivot bolt to the firewall and the "U" shaped bolt connects to them).
Once you hang your pedals, swing those 2 braces down to the firewall, drop the "U" shaped bolt through to get the right spacing. Mark the location of the ends of the bolt so you can drill holes. Then make a mark 1/2 way between them and use a hole saw (1 1/8th inch as I remember, but check me on that before you cut any holes). Then, drill the holes and install the master cylinder. The hole in the console is easy also. Just install the trans, drill a small hole to loocate the center of the shifter location. Drop the rubber floor boot over the hole, trace around it and mark the floor holes for bolts. measure about 3/4 inch inside the mark you made and cut the hole.
It's not hard. Measure twice and cut once.

If your car is a 1991, you can use the hydraulics, clutch, flywheel and transmission (and shifter) from the LT1 donor car. The flywheel is a one piece main seal design and is balanced just like your current one (it bolts right on). You need a custom cross member (www.skulteperformance.com should have it still) and you may need an adaptor for the speedometer. They changed how many pulses per mile the senders made (2000 or 4000 as I remember, I just can't remember what year). Check with Painless wiring and such for the adaptor box (Dakota digital, Cyberdyne, etc). Your driveshaft will fit just fine and just use the console top plate from a manual transmission 3rd gen. The stick is in the right place. Get pedals from a 3rd gen with a 5 speed and you'll be about set.
