What track times and numbers should I expect?
What track times and numbers should I expect?
Hi, I have an 88 Firebird Formula and heres my set up:
-355 fully fordged bottom end
-Eagle crank, eagle 6" rods, and JE pistons
-comp cams xtreme energy hydraulic roller cam 230/236
-comp full roller 1.6 roller rockers
-AFR 195cc street heads with 68cc combustion chambers
-MAC 1 3/4 headers
-Holley Stealth Ram with 58mm BBK throttle body
-Accel #30 injectors
-Custom prom by LS Racing chips
-compression around 9.8:1
-Rockland T56 with SPEC stage 3 clutch
-Spohn torque arm, lower control arms and brackets.
-And for right now Nitto 555 street tires.
I was just wondering what kind of track times and dyno numbers I should be expecting with this setup and if anyone has any similar setups and what numbers there putting down. Also any suggestions would be appricated.

Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
A lot of factors go into the time and MPH in the quarter mile. One of them is how well you can get the power to the ground. I suspect your car is capable of mid 12's and around 110MPH.
Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
I think ur prediction might be alittle off lol...I ran low 14s(14.0) with my stock L98 and 700r4...seems like alot of people r telling me its capable of mid 12s with decent traction...i guess we'll have to wait and seee.
Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
You think ur gonna be faster or slower than a 12? thats a awful low comp. ratio on that motor you should throw a kit on it, jus my .02. i think u might be lower if you can drive the t56. my buddy was throwin 13's on mild 355 and a few nuts and bolts.
Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
I also say at least mid 12s at over 113, if everything is tuned right, you can hook, and if you can drive. I think you should run at least 3.73 gears out back also.
I ran low 12s with your same cam, intake, and compression ratio on a 350. But I used AFR 190s, 24lb injectors, 3.50 gears, and an automatic w/3500 stall.

Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
I was reffering to the prediction of high 13s/low 14s Yeahh my goal was to hit at least a 12.5 with this setup...u think its possible with the terrible 3.27 gearss.
Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
Your runin a whole different car rite now man. u did 14.0 on a tuned set-up. this thing might feel like a rocket beeing manual and turn out to run like a dog wen u get up to the track. being a good driver and knowing were to launch that puppy is gonna be ur key.
Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
With some really sticky tires, I don't think you'd get down the track very fast at all.
I'd guess mid 12's as long as everything is in tune.
350-370rwhp

Re: What track times and numbers should I expect?
only thing i question about the setup is the heads. I'd be willing to bet there is a reason AFR stopped making the 195. Because on a 350-383 sbc the 190's if i understand correctly wont have any problem supporting 400-450 hp, and if youre running a 400 you need the AFR 210's, i think thats the next step up i forget.
Anyways i think you just might end up with a little bit of a surprise and with torque numbers lower then you expect because the heads just flow too much for the motor. Could be wrong tho.
EDIT: other thing i was thinking, stock TB is 52mm right? If youre going to dyno the beast i would be curious to see what it pulls with the bigger TB vs the stock one.

AFR stop making the 190cc heads not the 195s....I dont think they flow too much for the motor as its not meant to be a low end torque moster it was built more for top end power...Im also going to have it dyno tuned soon along with getting some M/T street radials.
