Re: What is involved in putting on a wonder-bar?

The steering-boxes on third-gens tend to crack when put under extreme pressures; since I just put all this money into my Z I would rather NOT be screwed over because of a steering-box problem
But anyways, thank you ALL for the help Are the TDS's expensive? Where can I find one?
My a/c is *not willingly* gone, so like you guys said I dont think I will have a problem mounting the STB. How much does the STB help in regards to handling?

Just so you relize what the Steering box is for and its not a handling upgrade. While the STB is a upgrade and you will notice the improvement right away with the front ent being more solid.

Oh, ya I know that the wonder-bar doesn't help with handling But I have heard that on our cars, the STB doesn't do crap, then other people say it *does* help quite nicely

So form your opinion on one. I came to the conclusion after having a STB on my car for 7 yrs now, that some people that claim a STB Dosen't do **** are the ones that never had one to start with. And they are the ones that know ****.
Look at some new cars and what do you see under the hoods, STBs. The factory engineers are finally waking up to the fact that this simple device does work on Uni-body cars and improves handling by keeping everything tied together.

While the primary function (stock, anyways) was to strengthen the frame where the steering box bolts; any stiffening of the front end will help hold your suspension geometry better. So, it may not be as significant as a STB (sucks I can't use one of those with the HSR), but it'll still help.

^Ya, that's what I was thinking, but the reason I *really* want it is so my steering box doesn't crack

The steering box is NOT what cracks, but the frame its mounted to.

A STB is a HANDLING part not a part to eliminate rattles. If you want to make your car tighter and remove squeaks install welded on SFC. That is one part that will improve the Un-Body structure.

When I installed my Spohn brace I had to angle cut the thickness of the electric fan mount ends. It was pretty tight on my "Z".
