what do you think of my engine?

well, it's way to cold to do anything to my car right now and i'm waiting on parts for my engine, so i'm kinda bored.

L98 block 355
TFS 195's
perf. RPM air-gap
650 carb
magnum 215/215 .540/.540(comp 270HR)w/ crane 1.6's
10.4:1 compression
0 decked block
2500rpm stall
3.73 posi
longtubes and duals dumping before the rear end

i think the car weighs around 3300 with me in it, gonna have to get it weighed this spring. any guesses on HP or ET or comments in general are welcome.

edit: wrong lift on cam, it's actually .533/.533

yeah probly close to 300 rwhp just a guess.....you have alot left in that thing tho...port the heads and intake, tuning could get on up there hi 300's

Looks like a good set up
Is this a street car? If not I would go to a victor jr.

yea, it's mostly a street car, but i might just be persuaded into trying a vic jr anyhow.

i'm thinking about something like a cc306 or gm847, or maybe even a Bret Bauer cam, for when i do change the cam out. with LT1's making the power they do with those on stock heads i should be a little higher, having a bit better head flow.

looking at my springs, the biggest i could go would be in the cc503 range. what does everyone think of the same engine above just with a cc503?

Theres no way that that cam has only 215 degrees of duration. The 270HR I had in my IROC 357 was a 218/224 .495/.502 . Something doesnt sound right there to me...and that carb better be a double pumper!

MDAction....ive been meaning to ask u this but was that sig pic at MIR import vs. domestics?? I was there and saw a car just like that put it ONE THE BUMPER literally..was the craziest thing ive seen in a while...was that you?? I never found the car in the pit area later on.

Personally,I'd like to see the next step up from that cam...the Magnum 280HR. Its a 224/224 .525/.525 (with 1.5 rockers). Description says it needs 2200+ stall and 3.40-4.10 gears which is perfect for what you have. RPM range is 2000-5500. With 3.73's the motor will hardly ever be under 2000 except slowing down/at a red light.

Engine COMBINATION is what counts, not the individual parts thrown at it. You have good headers, intake, gears, and stall. I really think the cam I mentioned would work better with your current motor.

Part Numer is 12-430-8.

Just giving my 2 cents b/c ive been where you are before.

i really think that the motor should have a dual pattern cam. here are CHP's flow #'s for my heads.

the lift has to be under .550 with 1.6 rockers due to the way my springs are installed. thats why i asked about the cc503/xe224-230.

the reason i want to try this cam is because i already OWN it, i bought all the parts in a package deal for dirt cheap.

Gotcha.

Since you already have it all,run it. Your thread title was what do you think of my engine and I was simply telling you what I thought lol. It will run good, but I just think it would be a bit more of a beast with the slightly larger camshaft to make up for the compression you have.

oh, no problem! thanks for posting!

sometimes i guess i sound a little pissed off over the net.

it's pretty obvious it would be more of a beast with more cam, i'm just curious to how it'll run with the tiny one it's got.

what do you think of the 503 to swap in later this summer?

224/230 @.05 and .535/.544
they have two versions of that grind, on a 110 or 112 LSA.
