Hi everyone, I am currently parting a 1991 z28 and need to remove the front frame bar (the one in the front top of the radiator). My dad says its welded on there and it can only be welded off (not sure if its down electrically or the other way). Anyone know if this is something that a novice with no gear can do? Is there a place to rent that type of gear.

from the factory it is spot welded into place. i brought mine somewhere and paid them to drill out the spot welds because there are a ton of them and it would have taken me forever. as for renting a welding machine, that would be new news to me, but who knows, call some local rental places

 

Just take a sawzall and cut through the metal you don't need and let whoever is buying it worry about the spot welds.
