Weird vibration/noise

Once the car hits third gear at about 1500 rpms it starts making a weird vibration/noise. It sounds like it's comming from the front of the car and it kind of sounds like a propellar plane but it's not really loud, if i have the radio on I cant hear it. I'm gonna start looking into this but just wondering if anybody has any suggestions or has come across this already.

thanks

Need more info

Did you feel it in your seat, the steering wheel, at what speed and what does it sound like. Does the car pull. Does it occur while braking. Like yesterday I had a van, the customer swore up and down that it was tires out of balance. I take out on a drive and low and behold she had warped rotors or hubs, or she had parallelism. My guess was warped rotors, but I am not tearing into it without money.

well the car rides fine, it just makes noise and the higher the rpm's get the higher the pitch of the noise gets. It sounds like something is rubbing but I dont think it's the tranny cause It still makes noise if I put it in nuetral while coasting at that speed.

Well

The transmission might have the front pump out. However unlikely, is it a stock rear and did it just start to occur. On rearwheel drive cars there is a certain point at which it howls and then stops. Caused from the teeth nomenclature. Also if it is a built rearend they probably have more toe to make it stronger and more torque, this will cause whinning, however I doubt that this is your problem since it sounds like it just started. My trnamission's second gear hub went bad and when it shifted to third it would clunk and make a grinding sound. What modifications do you have to this car?

well the mods to the car is whats in the sig plus a rebuilt tranny and rear. The tranny was recently put in so maybe thats it. I guess I'll just bring it back to the place and have them take a look at it, I think it's still under warantee.

thanks for the help!
