alrights boys i just ordered the ram air boxes for my 87 iroc-z i didnt want to be bothered with making em i was just wondering if i pick up that accel coil for my 305 the external mount coil what it should do for me as in torque or hp the dyno results show on the ram air that it produces 12hp and 19 pds of tq i hope this is true but what do u think about the coil

 

A coil is more of a support mod than anything else....if you don't have problems with weak spark then it isn''t going to do you much good. It'll allow you to open up the plug gap just a bit, but the benifits probably won't be noticable.

The ramair setup will probably make a noticable difference passing on the interstate....anywhere else you don't really have the airflow to benefit from it. Also, I don't see how you could demonstrate ramair benefits on a dyno (considering that the car isn't even moving) so I wouldn't rely on the "dyno proven" gains.

 

I've seen images, and i believe they turn on a fan infront of the car or something..

 

Yeah I had a 10-12hp gain on the dyno by retaining my 4" home depot VERY crappy looking Ram Air air setup that is attached to a hacked TBI air cleaner setup. That was compared to a FULL open carb also!

Cold air from those fog light openings does wonders! I also see a .2 gain at the track when I use the cold air setup.

 

what if im already running accel cap n rotor with 8.8mm wires and rapid fire plugs the coil wont do anything at all
