Voltage Regulator
Voltage Regulator
alright, ive been stumped once again by the rednecks who owned my car before me. since ive owned the car ive replaced the starter, alternator and the battery. (the battery has been replace three times). and still, my cars battery seems to die exceptionally fast. so ive begun to think that its the voltage regulator, a cheap easy fix. however, i have no clue where the f*** the thing is on these cars. i know what it looks like, but i was hoping someone here could tell me where on the car to find it. the car is an 82 Z28, btw. engine is not original, but i assume that wouldnt matter much? any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Voltage Regulator
It's built into the alt. Your volts gage should rear bat. V when you turn the ign. on, and alt. V when running. Alt. V should be no more then a couple of V higher then the bat. and never more then 14 to 15 V. After start dropping to 12.5 to 13 while driving. Sounds like you have a draw on the bat. when the ign. is off. Your local auto parts can usually put a tester on it for you.
