Voltage gauge problem?

I have an 87 Iroc with a 5.7 tpi that came from an 88 C4.... What I'm having a hard time figuring out is this stupid voltage gauge.. The needle has flipped around to the other side for some reason.. I'm not sure if it is grounded wrong or if the wiring is even the problem... I haven't really had a chance to start messing with ground wires since the motor and dash have been out of the car before... If anyone has ideas on where I should start it would be much appreciated.

One more thing, I have a fan wire that is getting HOT!!! when on... Just noticed!!!! Good thing, it didn't take long to feel hot, it may have melted all the way down.

Where ever the gauge is connected to sounds like its not making a good connection or is shorting to ground somewhere.

The fan wire melting is not good (DUH),but could be b/c the wire your using is too small...may need a heavier guage wire. Your using a relay for the fan right?
