Vette Heads and Cam

hey guys,

i'm considering buying an 89 IROC with a 355 TPI, it has the Alum Vette heads, and a Vette L98 Cam. my question is, is there a difference in the vette cam and the L98 Camaro cam? also with the 355, vette heads and cam, Catback exhaust, and a good tune what kind of power and track numbers could be expected, it's got a 2000RPM stall convertor and 3.73 Posi as well. thanks for all the help

Probably a little better than stock is about all. I wouldn't think you can get much more than 50HP

50 HP for what the heads and cam? or what? if for those so you think it would be making around 300 at the flywheel? taking the 245 of the stock 89 350 compared to this 355 with diff heads and cam and exhaust? thanks for the info.

The Corvette cam is the exact same as the f-body cam. The only difference you'll see is the aftermarket exhaust, which is worth about 10 horsepower over stock. The larger bore would be worth a tenth or two in higher compression, maybe 5 horsepower. In an 89 IROC, with sticky tires, you're looking at about 14.20 to 14.40 @ 95-96 MPH at a sea level track.

Stock it makes about 240 so I would say that with a good EPROM tune and that added displacement, no more than 300 at the crank

Please explain to me how you think a cat-back exhaust and 0.2 points more compression is worth 60 horsepower?

Your Vette L98 heads aren't going to amount to that much. In fact, they are almost identical to iron L98 heads for power, so forget about 300 hp from that combo.
