vaccuum leak and startup

i have a question?

can a vaccuum leak on my intake affect my cold startup. i.e. too much air leaking in from runners lets say causes a flooding of plugs and no startup?

if so, how do i test for a vaccuum leak with my air intake system plenum and runners?

A vaccum leak at the intake gasket will definitely affect your start up and idle.

Re: vaccuum leak and startup

a way u can find a vacuum leak is by spraying some WD-40 or brake clean around the suspected areas and if the idle jumps up,theres a leak. now,i have never done this myself, but have heard of it being done.

have u checked and double checked all the vacuum hoses and lines for leaks? they can be hell to track down..

good luck man

NO, NEVER DO THAT! WD-40 can cause excessive carbon buildup and valvetrain issues, and brake clean (especially the chlorinated blend) will nearly kill you from the fumes. It'll suck the air right out of your lungs.

Use carb cleaner
