ultimate exhaust system

What exhaust system do you like and why? What are some advantages and disadvantages of each one, and which is louder, meaner and faster?

Re: ultimate exhaust system

what do you mean by catback? are you talking about like a non muffler catback opposed to the flowmaster and magnaflow catbacks? i chose other because flowmaster mufflers are restrictive as hell, especially the 80 series crossflow that comes on the american thunder catback...the magnaflow's aren't loud enough for me...but they flow real nice....my idea of ultimate exhaust would be dual 3" out the back...but you have to cut up the flow boards to obtain that...

That would be nice, but isn't it a hassle to cut up the flow boards? Btw yes, non-muffler catbacks should have been the option, sorry.

False. Lack of creativity.

Re: ultimate exhaust system

i've had several and ultimately went back to a standard single 2 chamber with single exit for the most flow. price over everything else i like flowmaster the best although my spintech was quite nice but at 3 times the price i can't justify one.

Why are the American Thunder catbacks and the 80 series catbacks restrictive as hell? What about just the 80-series muffler; is that alone restrictive?

Re: ultimate exhaust system

I dig a custom single exhaust with muffler of your choice.

I got long tubes, 3" Y-pipe, 4" single with a 4" flowmaster planned. How could it not sound good?

1 3/4" long tube equal length headers with 3" collector. 2 1/2" true dual exhaust with X pipe and pretty much any mufflers you like the sound of. Over the axle or side exit... whatever. Thats pretty much the best you need for a well modified 350.

it ought to sound great... sadly i went back to 3 as the 4" was just to much to allow my disco ball to lower properly.

Re: ultimate exhaust system

Well I have a LT1, but I love the way my GMMG is designed like non other and sounds like non other. I wanted something original, but not a cut and chop job. Its just right for me, exhaust is a pretty subjective topic though. If youve ever heard one on a LT's/ORY car its a hair raising experience.
