Angry UK OWNER 92 Z28 " WONT START " *@//**

Hi from the UK.

I have a stock 92 z28 5.7 auto 62,000mls, my problem being the cars run fine for 2 mths, but today left it running while I opened the garage,it cut out and now won't start, fuel gauge shows just under a 1/4,so put 2 gallons in but still no luck, engine turns ok but just wont start, security light goes off, any ideas ?
thanks in anticipation.

I also have a 94 5.olt mustang.

Can't hear the pump anymore !!!!!!!!, fuel filter empty !!!, pushed some gas down the fuel line outlet at the filter, fired up first time, fuel pump goosed ?
Want to check the fuse and or relay first, you never know, can someone point out the location of the fuel pump fuse and relay ? If,and as I, and everyone on here suspects it's the dreaded pump, what's the recommended replacment, Make and part No please,Trap door option seem's the easiest, any down side's ? Many Thanks in advance.

Remove the engine air inlet duct and spray some ether, carb cleaner, gasoline, etc into the open throttle body. Try to start the car. If it does fire up, and die out after a few seconds, most likely it is the fuel pump. Both GM and Walbro make decent units. I as well as many others have had bad luck with other cheaper brands failing soon after replacement. GM pumps cannot be run low on fuel. They are cooled by fuel. Overheating or cavitation due to low fuel levels are the most likely causes of a failed pump.

As far as replacement method: the trap door method will work, but I strongly recommend against it, unless you plan on doing it properly. Doing it the right way would take longer than dropping the tank regardless.

It involves cutting a hole or door in the rear floor just above the gas tank to access the fuel pump assembly without removing the tank. More details can be found by doing a search. It seems to be even more popular with the LT1 idiots than the 3rd gen crowd. The pump can be replaced at home in a garage or driveway in a matter of a few hours. All you need to do is remove the exhaust from the cat back and drop the rear a little over a foot. Most trap door jobs hack up the floorpan and end up with poorly cut and spliced fuel hard lines.

Can't say that I've heard or seen anyone around here do it that way. But I sure someone has.lol
On my current 3rd gen. since it was a TBI RS and now it's a TPI'ed 305 w'mods, I just spliced into the factory fuel pump wires outside the tank and installed an inline vortex fuel pump b4 the fuel filter.

i've got a similar problem.. when i turn the engine off after driving and try to start it again it wont' fire up. The engine turns ok... it only starts when i put the gas pedal to the floor LOOOL (i've got 2.8 L MPFI 1987 Camaro) , ohh yeah but that's probably caused by my liquid propane gas installation
