When I shift out of park.....
Alright guys I just got my new motor in my camaro, and it runs but when I shift from Park into any gear it stalls.
This is a 90 RS, that was TBI but is now Carb 350, and a 700R4.
I bought the car with no engine, and put this one in, what is it doing guys?
Thanks

Timing set right? Mixture Screws and Float level set? Is there fluid in the trans? Thats what I'd check first. Then I'd move on to to the trany and wiring (you never know back up lights or nuetral saftey could be shorting something out). Also what did you do for the fuel system Trying to suck fuel through an existing in tank pump with a mechanical fuel pump doesn't work and causes the car run out of gas and stall under load as I found out when I put the 305 in my camaro
Re: When I shift out of park.....
It sounds like a vacuum issue. Are all of your vacuum ports on the carb plugged if not being used?? And are all of your other vacuum connections secure?? How about the intake to block seals a each end of the block, these can be a major PITA! Is your carb seated securely to the manifold? Good luck.

Think that could be it?

running an electric pump to a mech. pump to the carb w/ no FPR is giving that carb way too much fuel pressure.
i would try just using the stock fuel pump w/ a regulator w/ the pressure at 5-6 lbs.
o yea, then try bringin the idle down to about 650-700.
Re: When I shift out of park.....
Do not drive your car, or leave it in gear without the TV cable hooked up, and correctly set.
Its not just a kick down cable as with a TH350/400. You can cause permanant damage within by driving just 1 block with no TV cable.
