Re: Tuning an edelbrock carb !!!

nope , found it in autotrader. got it for 5k , talked him down from 6500 basically my best tool to work with was thats all I had lol . I talked with him on and off on the phone for about a week before he decided since he like me I could have it for 5k. It was a steal, but the guy had become disabled and couldnt work on , care for , or even really drive it anymore. I was kinda sad to take it from him but by the end of the week we kinda were friends. It needed a lil work. Ive got about 8500 in it all together by now including the race prepped tranny , 3000 stall and tires. Not to mention lil odds and ends.Id like to work up my 84 z28 eventually , I got a pair of vortec heads already sitting on a shelf , just wish I had money left to do something with them . man am I longwinded

That is a very kool story Camaro's are like.. my life. (well, rite next to body building anyhow )
But that sounds like you got the Marrow for a good price Jeez.. if only *I* had a nice set of Vortec heads laying around
But, there is a GREAT way to free up some power in your Camaro!

Re: Tuning an edelbrock carb !!!

the 97 came with lt4s on it , he gave me the stockers with the car , I traded them to someone for a pair of the good casting vortecs (cant remember the number , I did the research before I traded. )

p.s. , added you to my buddy list

Re: Tuning an edelbrock carb !!!

Hm.. I would think that the LT4 heads would be better than a lot of Vortec heads.. but I am not positive.
Which list? on of the IM's, or cz28's list? I will add you as well

Re: Tuning an edelbrock carb !!!

to tune the edelbrock you'll need a vac guage....have the car running and putting the vac guage on the passenger side port...turn the mixture screws to the highest possible vaccum reading and stop when it starts to back off...do the same for the other idle mixture...i had this same exact carb on my car for a few years without trouble...

also...check your timing and make sure thats set to a good number and change your plugs...the car should run perfect after you do this
