Transplanting 305 TBI

Well, as the sig. says below I have an 89 firebird formula with the 305 TBI. This car has been great for 6 years, but it is totally falling apart. The car is very rusty with holes coming through all over. The drive line is in great condition with 128k on motor and 7k on trans. I am currently looking for a new 3rd gen body that is not rusty with out a motor and trans & I have come across a few for $1500 in what I would call excellent condition. So, here are a few questions that I have. I know this would drop right into another car with the same set up. I would remove the engine/trans/wire harness/ computer/ etc., but what about the following questions.

1. Would the electrical harness plug into the 2 major plugs ( Behind brake booster and passenger fender area ) on a z-28 or iroc-z tbi car or are the plugs different between firebird and camaro. Would all the gauges work the same.

2. Same question as above. What about if the car was an original TPI 305car camaro or firebird.

Re: Transplanting 305 TBI

When I did the TPI swap from TBI, I used a Trans Am TPI setup in my Camaro. There were a few differences in the harness like the battery being on the other side. For the most part though, it was plug-N-play. If you get the diagrams for both cars/years, you'll be fine. If you put your TBI into a TPI, don't forget to swap the fuel pump.

I did not even give the fuel pump any thought. I think the tbi is around 13 psi and tpi is over 40 psi give or take a few psi. However I don't think I would go through the trouble of reusing my old one, I think I would just get a new. Thanks for the input.
