Transmission Cooler
i would like to invest in a transmission cooler, i believe it's defintely worth the money... i remember reading somewhere that by droping your transmission fluid temp. by a certain amount of degrees you can double the life of your tranny...
i've seen transmission coolers installed on automatics, but what about stick? can you install a trans cooler on a stick?
help me out, i'm wondering if i'd be able to get a cooler on my 5-speed... thanks!

You don't need a tranny cooler for a stick. The auto tranny on the other hand can benefit from a tranny cooler especially if you are running a stall converter. In a stick there isn't the frictional heat that is common with an auto, main reason there isn't a torque converter. The converter in a auto is probably the biggest source of heat in a tranny, fluid wise. With a stick you don't have a converter just a clutch, (which you surely don't want to cool with tranny fluid), and the internal gears. The neat thing with sticks is that you don't have the heat because the gears are either engaged or not, the fluid in a stick is merely there to provide lubrication to all of the bearings and the gears and with no converter providing all of the heat you really shouldn't need a cooler. Good luck Tony
