Not sure about the TA but an 86 Camaro with a 305 TPI auto came with 2.73 gears and had an option for 3.42 (G92 option)

Turn the wheel (if no wheel, just the hub) one full turn. Count the number of times the yoke turns completely over.

Aprox. 3.5 turns = 3.42
2.75 turns = 2.73 Etc. Etc.

The easiest gear ratio test would be to tell us at MPH the trans shifts from 1st to 2nd gear at WOT. Most likely you have 2.73s.

The easiest limited slip (positraction) test would be to nail it from a stop. Do both tires spin? If yes, it's a posi. If not, then it's either an open rear or fried posi.

Get the RPO codes and go here and figure it out for yourself.

From what he said up top he's only got the rear. Not in a car. I thought if you spin one wheel and they go the same way, posi. If they spin opposite ways, open?

Rippin92rs has the easiest way to tell.If its off the car.Mark both the wheel/hub & your yolk first.then turn the wheel one complete revolution.Watch the mark on the yolk & count how many turns it makes. This will give you a very close idea of the ratio(example,if the yolk makes 2 &3/4 turns).you more than likely have a 2.77 ratio. If both flanges/axles turn in the same direction its a posi. There is also a code on the pass axle tube. But youll need a service manual/chilton/haynes(or other) to look up the code.Which then tells you what ratio.
