Tranny??????
Tranny??????
I have and 86 Iroc, about a month ago I put a freshly rebuilt 700r4 put in with a shift kit, it shifts great. Now a couple days ago I parked in my friends dirveway which is a steep a$$ hill, so when I put it in reverse it banged hard cause it was resting on the hill. So I back out of the driveway and when I put it in drive to leave I heard a horrible scrapeing sound. So I drove to the nearst gas station to check it out. It sounded like the drive shaft was scrapeing something, but I was sure so i checked all the wheel wells brakes etc....couldnt find anything. What it really sounds like is something is scrapping the driveshaft, well I took it home jacked it up got underneath it and I cant see a thing. Now when I drive it I can it only scrapes when I go over a dip in the road or when I hit a bumb. If the bumb is hard enough something sounds kind of like its shaking to. Anyone have any idea what this could be. I can feel the scrape kind of in my shifter to..when i go over a bumb, meanwhile the tranny shifts great. There is no hesitation in any gear. PLease Help...Im running out of I ideas I might have to take it to a shop.
could be a lot of things. k member, tips, heat shields, cat... you didnt notice any dings under the car while looking at it? if the tranny is shifting great, i wouldnt worry about it. you can always bring it back and tell them you hear a noise, they will put it up on the lift so you can see the whole bottom of the car. kinda cheating to gain access to a lift but it works
thanks for replying, I actually figured out that it was the e-brake cable. I can pull up the e-brake about 3 clicks and there is no noise. When had the car jacked up and I was underneath it I had the e-brake pulled so thats why I couldnt see it. Thanks man
chances are it might be the plastic shield underneath your car right infront of the front axle, from what your saying about the dips in the road this could be it since i scrape against that all the time in my hilly city and you feel it in the whole car. make sure your struts and shocks are new so the car is raised to the right height, that problem fixed for me when i redid the shocks/struts. hope i could help...
