We know you're captain tuner with TPI stuff Kevin and we all wish we had the same results you've nabbed with your TPI setup but Joe does make sense saying carb is more reliable. It is when you consider a carb setup would probably be all brand new and ALL TPI systems are over 10 years old. Old wiring, sensors, connections, relays, pumps, etc...It all makes for a "mess" and considering all of those little things...hehe...it makes a carb swap sound really nice.

That's exactly why my car has 3000 miles on the new carb setup so far and I'm beyond happy. Not a hiccup, bog, sputter, backfire...EVER. It gets roughly the same gas mileage, it pulls hard to the 5600rpm cutoff, it starts on 30 degree mornings without a problem at all. I spend half on this setup as I did TRYING to figure out what was wrong with my TPI setup. 3 GM dealers, a couple local mechanics, 2 self motivated Data logger devices, new parts left and right...what a waste and this was a completely stock engine with a cat-back. Proud to say I took my computer OUT of the car last week. Fans, stock fuel pump, guages...they all work to my suprize.

Nobody can really continue the "TPI can't make HP" arguement with all of the aftermarket intakes avaliable so in that respect I still love EFI stuff but in this case I could reccomend a carb swap or tell the guy to replace every sensor/wire/pump/injector so he doesn't have a problem.

Sleeper, You'll find all info for a carb swap at the Thirdgen.org website in the tech articles Goodluck!
