TPI intake w/ vortec heads??

I have a friend who has a 5.7 350 TPI 87 Trans Am... and he is wanting to rebuild the motor and run vortec heads, can you run the stock TPI with vortec heads or will they not bolt up? Please any help will be appreciate it.

He will need this lower intake manifold from Scoggin-Dickey to use his Vortec heads with the TPI setup.

You will need the intake mentioned or it will not work. Go with a set of used aluminum heads that will better serve him in the future. For instance, I have AFR 190 heads and I am musing with changing it to the HSR. I can do that whenever I want because I am not saddled with that intake. Say something better comes down later. He might not be able to use it.

Doesanyoe know if its a pain to fab that EGR tube into the headers or what??? Sounds like doing this custom thing might cause some leaks and what not? I was planning this setup and never knew this was a factor.

No its not too difficult. This setup is on my car with Corvette heads, but its the same as my dad's setup with Vortec heads:

Those are "customized" SLP 1 3/4" headers.
