Precisely the reason it's not the best choice for the TPI induction.

Unhappy 327

so you don't think it will work has anyone tried it, would a diff. type of injection work on it like a lt1 type intake

also i want to run a hyd. roller cam what does it take to convert a old block to run one

a couple of people have tried it, but TPI's dont like to breath over 4500 stock, about 5200 modified so it doesnt match up to the powerband of a 327 to well. A HSR, lt1 intake or a miniram would be a better choice...if your stuck on wanting to use a 327.

You will need retrofit roller lifters

You'll need retro-fit hyd. roller lifters (the type that connect 2 lifters with a crossbar to keep them from rotating), and a roller cam button to keep the cam from "walking" in the block, and a cam bolt locking plate to retain the cam button and keep the bolts from loosening up, other than that, just the usual stuff, valve springs, locks, retainers etc.

Those retro-fit roller lifters are pricey too. It'd be much cheaper and easier to just use a roller block.

Talking 327

thanx guys that was good advice also looking for advice or should say some info,

1) what does the smog pump do (i know it was supposed to make cleaner air) but i maen what does it really do or should i say how does it do it?

2)durring the visual test what will they look?

3) will a tpi car pass without out it really working?

what i'm trying to do is decide carb or tpi if i go carb i'm gonna throw a roots blower on top and try to make it pass emissions the real questions in the cars that were carb'd did they have a smog pump ( were they using one in the 82' model year)
