I got my iroc up to 145 once. I dont really know for sure since my speedo only goes to 85. My buddy tim was in his Ta next to me and said i was doing 145 when he passed me in his lS1. Theres nothing like doing 150+ in a car... its just so sweet.

I think i remember reading about that somewhere but they had to quit because they kept throwing a belt at high rpm or somthing like that???

 

I think Motortrend listed the top speed at 157 mph, this was for a 350 TPI Camaro, but they will be very close.

 

I raced my buddy in his 88 GTA 305 TPI 5 speed and we got to 135mph.
Took a bit of time to get there too.
I was in my 88 Formula 305 TPI A4.

 

me, 350 tpi, A4 3.27 gear. 145ish. but how accurate are our speedos? Mine was burried. As far as I know it could have been faster.

 

i did about 125-130 in my 88 camaro RS 2.8L took a lil bit and was about mid 6,000 rpms almost maxed out

 

Yes it is crazy on the street. I did bury mine when it was fairly stock. Sure got up there in a hurry.

As an aside, in testing for the Indy 500, the stock TTA went over 170mph down the straight

well i got to 115mph in my camaro rs and i was only at 3900 rpms maybe faster but thats all my speedo goes to

 

You sure about the TTA hitting 170mph? How?

 

Well, within 60 minutes--170 miles could be traveled JK, I know TA's have astoundinly low drag coefficients but how much HP and at what RPM do they have?

 

That is what the track clocked it at when testing. That's why it didn't need any mods to pace the race.

Remember that they were underrated. I have a copy of a letter from PAS with 280rwhp and 380rwtq. Most numbers stated are 301 HP on the dyno which is about right with drivetrain losses.
