Top speed with 2.23's?

Hi, I was wondering what the top speed of my car would be.

I have the 305 with CFI, and the guy before me put 2.23's in the rear instead of the stock 2.73's.

295/60r15's out back, 4 speed auto w/ overdrive and shift kit.

Any guestimates? My speedometer is a little slow because of the bigger tires, but i've had the needle almost at the bottom of the speedometer @ 3500 rpms

Never heard of a 2.23 ratio. And if it did have them, the car would be slower off-the-line than a 3-cylinder Geo with a dead cylinder.

I used to have a lincoln with a 2.5:1 rear gear, it had a 9in.

that wasn't too bad off the line

it did have a 460/C6 combo in it though

The guy i bought the car from told me that he swapped out the original gears ( i would assume 2.73's) and put in 2.23's. I havent taken the rear apart yet, so what would tell me the ratio thats back there?

Your going to have to take off the differential cover and count the teeth on both gears and then divide the two. Obviously the higher number on top.
