Timing vs. MSD 6AL

Timing vs. MSD 6AL

Just a quick question. Is it neccesary to disconnect a MSD 6AL box before setting the timing?

I didnt think so and have never done it either. I was told by a friend that you need to in order to get a true timing reading.
