Angry Thinking about getting "another" thirdgen

I'm in the Navy and stationed in Guam got here and bought a MR2 non-turbo for $4800.00. Needless to say I got ripped SUPER MEGA TO EXTREME HARDCORE. The funny thing is I didn't intend to buy this car it was simply out or curiousity for never really owning a Mid-Ship RWD car before. So now that all that fun is over, said, and done and the motor blew ( did a oil change a while back and found metal shavings along with a now going tranny wich appearently had mega leaks that the owner forgot to mention ) although I still owe $4,100.00 . So what I'm thinking is I can A.) finish the V6 swap I started since I have all the parts already with the exception of the motorI need to buy (maybe $500 bucks). Then fix all the other F'kd parts on and in the car to sell it for a minimal profit ( basically what's left on the loan ) . B.) replace the current motor with another of the same type, cut my loses, sell it for what's left on the loan, and buy this 91' 305 5spd Camaro I found for $1,200.00. Eventhough I don't have $1,200.00 cash the owner says he is willing to work out some kind of payment plan. HOWEVER,the history of the camaro is very very questionable along with it's current state ( I have not had the chance to see it yet ) and could possibly put me off worse then I already am at this point and time. So it's kinda like a catch 22 and if you know anything about non petty officer pay in the Navy you know it's not much of anything. So in reality I can't afford be hasty in either direction..

Thanks in advance..

If I were you, I'd cut my losses, save some coin, and buy a car you're more certain about. If you buy a thirdgen that's just gonna give you as much trouble as this MR2, you'll really be pissed! Good luck
