Tell me about my 92 RS, please
Tell me about my 92 RS, please
I just recently purchased a 1992 Camaro RS 305. I am an ex LS1 owner, but am completely oblivious to my new/old 3rd Gen. I am looking for a summary of the car performance side, i.e, motor, TB, Cam, rated HP/TQ. Basically all the good stuff, including the difference between the Z-28 25th and the RS 25th, and even the major differences between it and my former LS1
Thanks in advance for all the info, and excuse me for my ignorance

Regarding horsepower and such, you could check out thirdgen.org, particularly this page:

The difference between a 3rd gen motor and an LS1... hmm damn, where to start.

170 hp...I think 255tq, nothing fancy and nothing compared to an LS1 car. Cam is a peanut cam, it's tiny! Actually, the 2nd smallest cam ever put in a GM vehicle. Car shuts off at 115 (dang governer) but I've heard it can do upwards around 135. Good luck!

Ok, so this is the 25th anniverisary year, correct? So what is the difference between this year Z-28 and RS, performance wise.
Can anyone recommend a place or site to get the most reasnably priced restoration parts for the interior as well as the exterior?

'92 is the 25th Ann., don't let people fool you, all '92s are 25th Ann.
RS's only came with V6, or a 305TBI. They have the different spoiler than the Z and different swaybar/swings/suspension stuff. A Z28 can be had with an L98 (350TPI). There's more, I just don't know off the top of my head.
As far as parts:
A lot of people have good luck with Third Gen Resource www.thirdgenresource.com . They have all kinds of parts.

Actually you can get '92 B4C RS Camaros that are exact replicas of a '92 Z28 minus the spoiler, badges, and with cheaper insurance. I just found a '91 B4C 305 5 speed for my buddy (my dream car) and I would say they are probably the bestof all third gen Camaros.
That said, I doubt yours is such. Probably a 305 TBI, nice cars, just slow, but a great foundation from which to mod.
For any information you would need follow the link provided by Pro.

I am definetly not looking for speed. I just traded in my 2001 LS1, hardtop, modded to put down 370 at the wheels on motor only. Got my wife a minivan, and this car is perfect to me for my weekender. They are slow, but damn, even when I owned my LS1, I always thought these looked better.
And, as I am finding they are a heck of alot cheaper to do bosy work on, and easier and cheaper to replace parts!

Like someone said it's rated at 170hp and 250 or so tq. At the rear wheels it will put doen about 150hp and 230tq.
In the 1/4 it will run high 15's to mid 16's. More than likly if u have an auto it will have 2.73 gears and a 5 speed 3.08 both would be open.
If you are going to mod it I would say to do full exhaust and posi.
