taking out tpi wiring

when you take out the tpi setup and the wiring harness what does stop operating ie guages, fuel pump, lights etc. i want to take the tpi because the mass air flow sensor needs to be replaced and i dont want to spend 600$ on a new one. please tell me what will stop operating when i take out the tpi and what do i need to to get these functions operating again
thanks arthur

man, i just sold my MAF on ebay ..... Try searching and see if someone has one up there.

Im not sure if i understand what your wanting to do? Are you gonna go carb and thats why your ripping out the harness??? Or are you gonna go MAP? The cost of converting everything to antoher form of induction might offset the cost of a new MAF.

Is it a stick or a auto? If you remove the wiring on a auto the torque converter wont lock up. THe gagues would quit (maybe not the speedo, i think 87 was the last year for a mechanical speedo). Fuel pump would not turn on by the ecm relay, and if your going carb or something, you would need 6 psi roughly and tpi's run about 44 psi

$600 for a MAF!? $150 gets you a Wells SU 145 with a lifetime warranty. There's absolutely no need to pitch TPI over a MAF dude.
