Question t-5 tranny problem **Help plz**

Plz help me i need to get my car off jack stands

To start my car is a 1984 Z28 305 34,000 miles rebuilt, 5 speed 14,000 rebuilt....

This is how it started, i dumped the clutch, then grabed 2nd and just let off after that because when i throw it into 3rd at high rpm's its tends to grind, but n e ways i pushed the clutch in and it was just total play, so i took it outta 2nd with force without thinking, and pulled over, i seen that my slave cylinder was broke, so i tow my car home and fix the slave cylinder and bleed the hydroliac lines, so i am like ya its fixed , but come to find out when i try it, i first put it in reverse and it don't go no where, u can give it gas and let the clutch slowly and the car will still go no where............and that is the same with all the other gears 1,3,4,5,R, it wont go in 2nd gear, and when i put the car in neurtral and let out the clutch the car starts moveing so yea plz someone help me out my car moves in neurtral and not in gear, n e input will be helpfull, i am takeing trans out today....

Sounds like shes done...same thing happened to mine, except for the neutral moving thing. Sounds like your going to have to take it apart to determine the problem. What sound does it make? if any.

I blew my third gear, when I took it apart the whole thing was stripped of teeth and all of the metal was stuck in between the other gears... she was locked.

Sounds to me like you busted up 2nd gear. The T-5 isn't exactly known for it's strength, and powershifting doesn't help. Whatever it is you're gonna have to go into the tranny to find it. That definitely isn't a clutch or hydraulic problem.

Yes you can tottaly take them apart and rebuild them . I have had to help a friend out with his... on 2 different ocassions. Sounds like possibly a busted synchronizer or even one of the dawgs that hold the synchro in place ! When you get it apart look at the shifter forks that are on the top......possibly a bent fork will cause this also

Look around on ebay...you can prolly find a whole tranny for a couple hundred and not even have to deal with the rebuild.

the thing is i don't wanna buy nothing junk off of e-bay, theres gotta be somewhere i can get specs and diagrams, my local trans shop has a "01" camaro 6 speed for only 1000 bucks, so i think i am just gonna go pick that up because i know thats a hell of a deal, but i still want insides for the t-5

Don't buy that tranny. The T-56 that they put behind the LS1 is very different from the LT1 version. To make it work, you would have to change the bellhousing, tranny front cover, clutch hydros, and input shaft. The input shaft alone is almost $400 from GM so it really isn't gonna be worth it.

It may be worth it to get a "junk" tranny for next to nothing just so you can pull the hard parts out of it (gear clusters and such.) And if you can find somone who's parting out a wrecked car then the trans is likely to be in good shape.
