Sway Bar questions.
Sway Bar questions.
Im looking at purchasing some new sway bars, but I wanted to check with you guys and see what kind/size would be the best all around. If you can recommend a brand and size that would be very helpful. Thank you.
Re: Sway Bar questions.
I dont have any. They were removed my the previous owner because the bushings wore out, and he got tired of hearing it rattle. I guess he didnt realize that you can buy them at O'rielly's.

Try spohn.net
I just bought a 1 inch rear sway bar for my '99 and its a very nice pice. I'm right in the middle of coating my wheel wells, rear subframe, and rear axel with POR-15, then I will be installing it.
One only has to compare the stock sway bars with an aftermarket and you will soon see why the stocker with rubber bushings is inferior.
Like Z28SORR asked, however, what are you planning for. Just a daily driver, 1/4 mile, or twisties.

Re: Sway Bar questions.
I occasionly go to HRP and drag race, but the car is still my daily driver and although I do want a good bar for drag racing, I do not want to compromise awesome handling. I guess Im just looking for that middle ground. Also, the Polyurathane (sp) bushings you speak of, I've great things about them, but I've also heard they squeak excesively. Is this true?

Re: Sway Bar questions.
Does this come with everything I need or is there in install kit needed? I dont not have any of the mounts because the previous owner removed them and who knows where they are at now.

You should have a small bracket mounted to the rear subframe on the driver and passenger side. If not you will see two holes in the subframe. You will also need to get the U-bolt, brackety, and screws to hold the sway bar to the axel. I would suggest calling Spohn and explaining your predicament. You can also hit a junkyard and pull the brackets yourself.
Man I wish I had a digital camera. I have the *** torn out of my '99 right now....I could take pictures of everything you would need. Sorry.
Call Spohn....they know all the right terminology for the needed brackets.

Re: Sway Bar questions.
I would save some cash and just get a set of stock WS6 bars (36mm front/24mm rear). Grab some energy suspension bushings and endlinks, and just unbolt the endlinks on the front bar when you wanna go drag racing (to allow better weight transfer).

And yes I know he is referring to 3rd Gens, I am just curious since my stockers were 31/21.
