Suggestions on Heads

well, i have ported l98 heads as of now, but after i do my leakdown test and i find out the heads are cracked, im going to be looking for a new set of heads...

i have 10:3-1 compression, 3000 rpm stall, comp cams 503 cam (224/230 durration), 1.6 rr's, and the HSR is going on as well. i was messing with desktop dyno2k and i noticed that the dart pro 1's give a nice gain in horsepower over other aftermarket heads. does anyone recommend another set of heads that would suit my car? also, if i decide to go with the dart pro 1's, which one's should i get? the 200cc's, or the 215cc's? i plan on shifting at around 6k, with an occasional pull to around 6500 if i really need to, but nothing over 6500. thanks for all your help guys... if anyone has any feedback on dart pro 1's, please leave it, because im really curious to know how good these heads are since im on a budget and i can't afford to buy afr's =\

uh..200`s are a LOT for a 5.7...Cheap heads with big ports work best with more than 350 cubes...just my 2 cent

Check into the Pro Lightnings. I hear some very good things about those heads. However the aluminum versions are in the same price range as AFR's.

I swapped from cleaned up aluminum l98s to aluminum pro toplines and lost 2mph, never got it back. Steer clear.

200cc heads with the cam you have and a HSR will make for a very nice combo. You will be able to easily go to 6500 rpm with that setup if you want to. 200cc are not to big and not too small, they are a good fit for small blocks and respond very well with the right cam ( your cam choice is very good).....The only thing you need to be concerned about is the cc chamber size. If they offer the heads in a 64cc size you will still be able to maintain about a 10:1 compression ratio with a .039" head gasket if you are using the stock piston and block height. The only other head out there that I like and have on my car are the GM Fastburn heads. They are about $1150 from Scroggins/Dickey and are 210cc and also work very well with a stock bottom end and a good cam choice....

Iron L98s have 64cc chambers and aluminum L98s have 58cc chambers, so depending on which you are running now, your compression will eithere stay the same or lower by going with 64cc heads.
