Post sub frame connectors

I'm interested in putting some sub frame connectors under my 86 TA, and I found a good deal on some weld in type. The only problem I have is that I have heard that the floor pan has to be modified to put the weld in type in. Would I be better off to buy the bolt in( or are they the same way) or should I have the pan modified. Also what type of floor pan mods do I need to do?

Not all weld ins require cutting the floor, but they are the better ones. My weld ins are from MAC and were very easy with no cutting for about $100.

typically, the weld ins that require floor pan mods. go right thru the floor. so youd cut a hole in the floor where the sfc would pass thru it and weld the floor pan to the sfc instead of just welding the ends on the frame rails. it is alot stronger, but alot more costly to do. If yo only plan of racing once in a while, and arent really going to get competitive, then stick w/the no mod sfc,s, they will still give you a stiffer feel. And still be better then the bolt ons. Dont forget though, the no mod weldons loose ground clearance and some of them you can see from the side of the vehicle. so if your car is lowered already, and/or y ou dont want to ever see them, get the better weld in conn.s that pass though the floor.

South Side Machine or "SSM" for short. I used my set on 2 different Thirdgens and they hug the floor pan extremely tight. You cna't see them unless you get under the car and look for them. They're rectangular tubing and they're sold by Jeg's for roughly $150. Have an experienced shop weld them in and you'll feel like a million bucks
