Re: Strange vs Motive Rear Gears, also which ratio:
What RPM band is your cam good for?
If the RPM band has your car making hp at 5k+, then get something like 3:23's. If your car is making optimal power below 5k, then go w/ something like 3:73's or 410's. Since you only have a 4spd tranny, I would go w/ the 373's as you will loose a LOT of wind up-top w/ 410's.
Just my opinion
EDIT: Just noticed your rpm-band next to your cam specs; I would DEFFENINTLY go with 373's to 323's.

Re: Strange vs Motive Rear Gears, also which ratio:
is it stock 700 gearing?
and how big are your wheel/tires because that matters
With a 245/50/16, and 3.73's and shifting at around 5500 im having to shift into OD right about the 1/4 mile mark. Its been a while since ive driven the beast so i forget exactly what speed im at when shifting into OD.
Generally 3.73's with the 700 are considered a bit overkill so i doubt youd want to go bigger then that.

Re: Strange vs Motive Rear Gears, also which ratio:
400's pull high rpm's?? I never knew that...
But here is this dudes cam specs:
Cam: Grind: Solid Lunati
280/284F10 .525/.530 Lift, 247/251@.050, 159/162 at .200, .500/ 504 valve lift, 2500-7000 RPM, Installed Straight up, .026" Valve Lash Hot, .022
That is why I am recomending the 3:23's or 3:73's. And even 411's if you wanna top out at 120 or so

Re: Strange vs Motive Rear Gears, also which ratio:
any motor pulls whatever you want it to. All depends on what cam intake heads hes using and i didnt really pay any attention to the motor cause other then powerband it doesnt matter.
If youre going to be shifting at 6500 3.73's are the way to go, with my 350 the 3.73's i have to **** into OD right at the end of the 1/4 so if youre gonna pull a bit higher rpms they should be just fine. You dont need 4.11's with a 700

Re: Strange vs Motive Rear Gears, also which ratio:
Thanks for all the input, today I ordered in a group purchase my Strange w/ Super Posi rearend with the 3:73 gears.
You can look at my dyno sheets to see how the engine pulled throughout the RPM range. 6500 and still going.....

Plus I still have to do some more tuning, so a little more power will be revealed..
