Re: Stock temperature for a 91 camaro rs
I dont know about the RS, but on my 91 Z28 ran at 210-220 stock
If you are overheating:
What I did was wire both fans to come on when i turn on a switch, so I have control of them
Then I put in a 180* thermostat....
Rides at 180 all day now...rain or shine.
First mods I did.... Oh I forgot, I also added an aluminum radiator & HP water pump...so that helped to keep it consistent.
If you are having overheating problems then those are the things that will take care of it.
1.180* thermostat
2.Some way to turn on the fans at the right temp since you changed the thermostat (I just wired a switch to the fans, but you can also just have someone program them to come on at whatever temps you want)
3. HP Aluminum Water Pump
4. Aluminum radiator (Got mine for $160 or so at Autozone...no problems)
Also, the little air deflector that directs air to the radiator..if its not at the right angle or damaged it *MAY be part of the problem (dont know firsthand...mine was fine)
Also, lots of debris stuck up on the radiator might cause it to run a little hotter too(Mine had a bunch of crap up in there...leaves, etc)
Hope that helps
