Are stock Snorkles on TPI's restrictive???
Engine is a bit modified and for some reason im under the impression that the stock intake snorkel is restricting any air.
This is the current setup

But id like to do this

As for the stock snorkel, its basically been gutted at bottom, but i think its still restrictive(Dont ask why) Would i see an increase with the second pic? I dont care for look, but just would like to get as much air into the engine as possible.

First thing is that you have a Camaro and the setup you wanna go to is for the Firebird. Your stock snorkel is WAYYYY better than the stock Bird setup. Depending on your year model, you can do away with the snorkel and mount a K&N straight to your throttle body. 91-92 models are the only ones you can do that with. Check out my website and look at the second page, there you will see my snorkel setup. If I were you I would stay with what you have because fresh air is getting in alot better through a straight pipe than a bent one

Sticking a K&N directly to the TB is a bad idea, Its sucking in hot air. As for the Stock snorkel, I do have K&N's. Reason i was thinking its restrictive is how thin it is at the very end.
how much power are you pushing....if the box is gutted and your airway is free (no debris, foglights, etc.) then it's more than enough for the stock setup.
a filter straight to the tb is a bad idea since like you said your sucking up hot air. so is the one in the other pic since essentially it isn't that much "cooler"
check out mine as another idea, it works really well and i don't see any amount of power you might run needing more than the 4" it has.
