Vortec heads are much covetted by many hotrodders. You should look into doing a buying and selling sideline on them.
LS1 engines are whole different design and have virtually nothing in common with the legendary smallblock Chevy.
How are you going to learn if you don't ask lots of questions?
I'll tell you guys what gains I got from JUST a p&p job and a Holley Stealth Ram as soon as I make it to the track. I think that 12's are attainable. I ran last year a 13.7 @99.3mph Just doing some calculations I have discovered that if I can get 500 more RPM outta the motor by the time I get to the 1/4 lights, I'll hit 103.5 mph. Thats a 4mph gain, which is considerable. Remember that I only spent $1000 on the motor this year. It would be nice to shave off another full second. We'll see.

The only problem with my Z28 is the better it runs the harder it is to keep my wife out of it.I will eventully have to buy another one to get mine back

[B]It is probably fine but you will want new gears and timing chain, or at least timing chain. The gears should be the same as are already on your L98.
Sitting Bull I found another LT1 cam auction ending and I won it for $37.00.The guy assured me it was in great shape and he had a great reputation. We will see!How about lifters should I get new ones and do I have roller lifters or not?my engine has 158,000 miles on it.Let me know!
