Starter to change ? and other problems
Starter to change ? and other problems
My new 89 iroc z350tpi usually starts very well but I had twice some problems since yesterday.
Always the same scheme. First a 10-15miles drive (under hot weather but the engine is real far from overheating) and then the starter doesnt even start like stuck. Yesterday it started without any problem one hour later (I had to move the car manually before...), I let one hour because I had other things to do. Today I moved the car a bit, hit a bit the starter, and after 5min, dont know if this because I changed the vent position but it started well.
Will the starter die and I must change it or is it another thing ?
Where to buy this kind of part ?
From time I have got the "engine maintenace soon" light that put on, sometimes not, I dont know why and how to deal with.
When cruising, and a light throttle I used to have some whining noise backward (around the diff ?)... any problem with ball bearing ?Normal sound ?
Thanks for help !

Any parts store locally will have starters that will go right in. The job SUCKS though, its pretty hard to get in/out and the thing is HEAVY to top it off.
As for the code, bend a paper clip into a U shape and stick it into the TOP RIGHT terminals on the ALDL connector under the dash around the drivers knee area and turn the key on. The SES will flash code 12 3 times to let you know the diagnostic is working and then it will flash each code out 3 times...it will be like this, one X equals one flash of the SES light...
X...XX....X...XX...X...XX and then it will flash the code out...if it only flashes 12 then there are no codes but if the light is on there will be atleast one.
Hope ths helps

I made the car checked at a local car garage.
The guy filled the AC (never been filled up for that car), fixed better two loose wire, and checked the starter. No problems since then. 74$, not that bad for the AC filling no ?
