Spring help
I've read V6 springs will let the rear squat more, thus advancing traction. Give it a shot, you can find some crap springs for real cheap, not like you're losing a fortune. As far as other springs, I can't be of much help there

My 88 Trans am ran high 13's with a flowmaster muffler skinnies up front, no air filter and a small 2500 stall. Bone stock it went 14.2. In an 8th mile a stock "in good running condition" 3rd gen will take an Lt1, and an Ls1 all day long. Trust me I have done it!! As for the 1/4 hte Ls1 will win hands down, but the with the lt1 it can go either way if both are in stock form. Ihave sen stockk lt's run high 14's and then I have seen some run high 13's. My curent 88 Trans Am runs 11's N/a with a small cam, afr heads, 9.5:1 compression its a 355 cid. Now that is the same as a heads and cam Lt1. I run 3.70 gears and a diff intake. The only thing I will agree is that the lt1 is easier to tune thatn the 3rd gen. I guess you can ay its personal preforance more than anything else. I will say that in my opinion though that the GTA was the best looking 3rdgen period! and a 91-92 z28 is better looking than a 4th camaro. The WS6 LS1 is one badd azz looking car though!!! it is the best looking 4th gen there is.

Wrong thread!
Anyways, yes V6 springs will help. But there are more important areas to address first for traction. Several guys run V6 springs in the rear with the appropriate front struts and rear shocks.
i think you would be better off with stiff rear springs, and softer front springs, with the approprate shocks/struts. squating really isn't good for traction, for really good traction you want good anti-squat properties in the rear. squating is the opposite of driving the rear wheels into the ground, it is basicly the car trying to pick the rear wheels up in the wells.
I think a softer spring will promote weight transfer, but creating sqwat is bad too. Once the softer spring has allowed the weight transfer, the rest of the rear suspension should work to raise or lift the rear of the car pressing the tires downward in the process.
Softer springs but firmer shocks usually work pretty good...Adjustable shocks allow for it to be soft on the way up but hard on the way down(90/10), which is important on the front. And near the opposite on the rear, but not so drastic (60/40).
