speed limiter

i have a 90 iroc with a 305tpi. i changed the gears from 2.73 to 3.42. it shuts down at 3000rpm. that is 95mph. or that would be 118mph if i had 2.73. how can i bypass the governer so i can go faster. it pulls hard to 3000 and then stops and starts to surge like i hit a speed limiter.

Re: speed limiter

get a aftermarket chip or a custom burned one. the limiter is in the computer,no way to bypass it.

Re: speed limiter

yeah... on my 1990 iroc-z with 3.23's, my car would pause at 110 mph... sucked ***, but i had a guy burn me a new prom for me and i had him take out the speed limiter. and anyways, with a 305 tpi, i dont think you'd want to race anyone top end...

Re: speed limiter

Thirdgen.org has an article on how to bypass it. If you try it, let me know how it works. Good Luck!
