what are you using?
to hold down your distributor to keep it from moving? i have a cheap y looking piece that's temporarily on the car until my unit from gm comes in but i'd like to find something at a local parts store to work until it gets here...any ideas?
Re: what are you using?
go down to the junkyard and ****** a factory piece. Wire brush it, paint it w/engine enamel (tape off contact point for distributor for maximum grip), bake it a little over the stove top to cure it, and pop it on. Factory piece will not allow it to move, unlike a lot of the chrome krap you will find at the parts store.
Re: what are you using?
so i finally found a stock piece...looks identical. still the stock y looking piece however it it looks like it is made a little better.
isn't there anything that would work better then this y design?

Hey, jeff- take a look at this one I`ve used it before, it will hold the dist. for life.

Re: what are you using?
I have used these in a couple of build ups for guys I know and have had no problems. The pinch bolt can be fun to access once your timing has been set and you want to lock it down. I personally like the stock clamp..has always served me faithfully without incident. That clamp from moroso is similar to the slip collar on the MSD distrubtors that fit short and tall deck motors and looks trick. The one shown is the billet one for 50, the steel one is more like cad plate.
