Spark plug gap Q

I've got almost 11:1 compression and I'm not sure exactly where to gap my plugs. I've been keeping them around .035 but should I go tighter with higher compression....like .03 or .025?

I'm running the R42LTS Delco plug...not sure if I should go up a heat range or 2.

I higher compression motor will typically need a cooler plug (something on the cooler end of the scale) to avoid detonation.

As for gap, you can experiment by moving your gap .002 each way and looking for better performance/gas milage. When it drops off, back up a setting. Just go larger or smaller, .002 and run it. Get your baseline mileage and et and go .002 more, etc.

I am using NGK ones that are the stock replacement but one heat range cooler. Also I have an Accel coil and have cranked it up to 45 without any problems. YMMV. I am running 10.8:1 compression

For a more complete burn, try to run at least .035. If you have an aftermarket coil you should be able to spark a .045 gap without drama.

I do wonder tho, what about those multi-strike systems like MSD and Accel 300+, etc?

Hmmm...I figured that .035 would be more then enough, I have a standard accel coil and breakerless distrib...someone told me I should run like .025 gap with my compression.

If there was hesitation especially at high RPMs, I might suspect your spark being blown out and try reducing the gap.

I run the gap at .035 with about the same and a 100 shot of NOS on stock plugs.
