Something has gone wrong!
When I crank up my car in the morning, it usually idles at about 1250 - 1500 RPMs when the temp. is around 100. but once it has been runnin for a while, temp. at btw. 180 - 220, it still idles at 1250 - 1500RPMs. and after i shut it off and go into a store or get ready to leave school, the car will only turn over when i push the gas pedal to the floor and black smoke comes pouring out the back and half the time the car once you let off the key to start it, it will die. What's the problem? Also, my car puts out little specks of oil out of the tailpipes and if it sits in a spot for a while, it all accumulates and there's one BIG spot of oil.

Sounds like its time for a rebuild!
Oil in the tail pipes is probably rings. Heres a test... Pull the oil dip stick out and run the car. If oil starts spitting out the top then you've got some bad blow by.

If it is time for a rebuild which i wouldn't think so with my car only having 61,000 miles on it......but if so how much would it cost to get it done?

I don't think it would cost too much if your just going to replace the rings.
I would say since your opening it up throw some forged stuff in there and some good pistojns so later you can add a blower or nitrous.
Or you could jsut forget about the 305 al together and build up a 350 or 383.

Well, throwing in the forged stuff isn't oing to give you anything. It will just give you that extra assurance that your block won't melt into a huge paper weight.
The only way to make more power is to swap out that crappy cam for something a little more healthy. You'll also have to do something about those heads. Either get them ported or buy some new aluminum ones.
Power is all about getting the perfect combo were everything works together perfectly.
Then you have money that holds you back from getting all htat power.
You really need to figure what kind of power you want out of it before you can start planning on building everyhting else.
I'm building up a forged 383 for nitrous and I've dumped about 12 g's CDN into it already!

I wanna get at least 300hp out of it and change the rear-end to a posi w/ 3.73 gears. and have true duals with it dumped out

In that case I would buy a 350 block and rebuild it. Get some good flowing heads and a healthy cam and bring up the compression a little and 300 rwhp should be right there.
You could do it with a 305 but I think the 305's are a waste. Mine has a 305 right now and its alright but you can't beat cubic inches!
