Re: SLP loudmouth
you don't need a custom y pipe.
you can get the loudmouth resonator/muffler or you can buy the 4th gen catback, it costs a lot that way. I have heard it takes some fabbing but it will work with little problem that any self respecting exhaust shop should be able to work out. another thing you could do is, cut out your cat, install the loudmouth bullet and either retain your current muffler or cut it off for pure loudness, from there you can install a y split over the axle(I think flowmaster has some) and make dual exits, or go single your choice. Or you could go the cheaper route, and quite possibly louder and put a turndown right after the loudmouth.
I understand 91 Z-28 has the hooker longtubes, that's why he needs the custom y-pipe. I've seen the car on another board before.
I just picked up a loudmouth bullet for 50 shippd on another forum so you might save a good bit of money with that and then pick up some catback from another company. The hooker catback is a really nice setup, will fit precisely, and is relatively cheap compared to SLP's setup, you can then just install the SLP pipe in place of the aerochamber muffler that comes with the hooker catback. or have one built out of mandrel bent 3" pipe.
I just bought this thing and I'll tell you now, the thing is a straight pipe, there's absolutely nothing but completely smooth surface inside the pipe. I was kinda disappointed since it's not much of anything, at least glass packs have some kind of baffles or something, this thing is just a overpriced chrome pipe. i don't understand what makes the sound in it. SLP wants a lot of money for this thing. Food for thought.

Re: SLP loudmouth
also, there's a guy on www.iroczone.com that goes by 87350tpi and currently there is a post in the classifieds there selling a brand new SLP loudmouth cat-back for 300 shipped in the original box if you really want it
Re: SLP loudmouth
hey Kiroc89, i have the hooker catback so i guess that is a good thing, but where could i get just and y pipe to replace the muffler with to make it straight pipe? and also it goes from a 3" to 2.5" tips
Re: SLP loudmouth
I would say the best, most free-flowing pipe you could put on is a 3" single mandrel bent pipe that goes over the axle and straight out. Now if you want to have the dual exits you could get one made, I believe flowmaster makes 1 into 2 splitters.
Loudmouth in place of cat with a 3" straight pipe mandrel over the axle would sound like you are waking the dead and perform exceptionally well.

Re: SLP loudmouth
I have it on my car and it is VERY loud, obnoxious even. Mine is an SLP LS1 Loud Mouth, at the time I went with a single 3" Catco cat (flanged) and the shop did the rest. I think it required an extra hanger or two?
My MPH went up but so did the dBs.
